When Colleen & Steve mentioned that their wedding would be an early September wedding at Art OMI in Ghent, NY we were thrilled. The idea of a wedding at an arts center held so much potential. Even so, we had no idea just how inspiring this venue was going to be. From the houses that they got ready in, to sculpture they personally chose to have their first look near, to the setting of the ceremony and the reception in the visitor’s center, there was inspiration everywhere.
We met Colleen, Steve, and their dog Elliot, at Thacher State Park a year ago for their engagement session. This year they added another adorable yellow lab to the mix- Lars. Both Lars and Elliot were dressed for the occasion and came to help celebrate the big day. The day that started off hotter than any of our summer weddings, threatened storms, rained only a little, and ended with incredible clouds and a strong cool wind.
Colleen and Steve tied in their love for and experiences traveling by naming each table a city that held a special place in their hearts. Colleen gave Steve personalized map cufflinks, and their cake was an entire globe with notable cities and countries where they had traveled specially marked. by their closest family and friends, they exchanged vows and committed to each other in an intimate ceremony. Lawn games, delicious food, Polaroid’s, dancing, conga lines, Ben & Jerry’s, and a memorable evening followed.
The evening ended – for us – on an epic and intense game of lawn jenga. The pressure was on and the game went for a solid ten minutes where each attempt at a move risked tumbling the tower. Colleen and Steve, it has been such a pleasure getting to know you and photograph you! We can’t wait for your first anniversary shoot!
